Tim Fanous is a CPA qualified accountant and tax agent having worked in sales, business services and large multinational corporates specialising in financial accounting and tax.
Tim started his career in sales at a retail store in 2002 working amongst business minded owners and colleagues who taught him the foundations of running your own business. Learning how to champion customer service, maintain good store merchandise & stock levels and break record monthly sales. During this time, Tim had an opportunity to work in a small boutique accounting firm at Newtown, Sydney. This exposure drove his interest further into the business world and triggered his career in business services and advisory.
After securing a role in a medium tier firm, Tim quickly developed his understanding of accounting through his mixed client base of small to medium businesses as well as high net worth clients under the guide of his mentors. His natural ability to problem solve and overcome challenges coupled with his exposure and dealings with savvy business minded people enabled him to become more intuitive about making good business decisions. He soon became a senior and the go to person for all his clients demonstrating good insight into their industry and business goals.
In 2010, Tim made a career move into the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry working for one of the largest multinational corporates in Australia, Lion. Renowned for having great brands, great people and great culture, he absorbed the fundamentals of people engagement and the vital impact it has on business success. Tim was responsible for the reporting and governance of Lion’s largest New Zealand wine brand, Wither Hills Vineyards and was exposed to the New Zealand tax and levy system and reporting obligations. He was driven to support his business partners with practical insights and recommendations to facilitate value-adding business decisions.
In 2014, Fanous Business & Tax Advisory started when Tim obtained his tax agent licence and started to grow a client base with predominately family and friends. Whilst in the growing phase, Tim had the opportunity to join The Little Gym Australia and New Zealand as CFO and also Operations Manager bringing his practical business knowledge and experience to gave him the ability to lead financial reporting, project manage pre-open, manage the procurement of plant & equipment from overseas suppliers and assist with business operations.
Further, Tim has held roles at Snack Brand as Commercial Analyst supporting sales and marketing teams in new product development, sales and budget reporting and the management of trade spend for Woolworths and Coles.
More recently, Tim worked at Foxtel where he was the Finance Business Partner to the team responsible for Foxtel owned channels. This role supported the executive team with budgeting and forecasting $60m portfolio.
Today, Tim has shifted his full focus on the Fanous Business & Tax Advisory and obtained certification of a CPA Practice. Leveraging his current business network and forging new relationships through client referrals.
Tim’s experience and unique skill set are his biggest assets which are demonstrated through his genuine approach and positive attitude.
